The\u00a0Las Vegas Raiders\u00a0are facing an “ugly” quarterback situation, but a new report suggests they could solve the situation with a trade-deadline deal.<\/p>\n

The Raiders have stumbled to a 2-6 record this season in part due to their inconsistent play at quarterback. Both Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew have made starts this season, but neither has made a significant impact. They have a combined to throw eight touchdowns and 10 interceptions, averaging 209.1 yards per game collectively.<\/p>\n

Bleacher Report’s\u00a0Brad Gagnon\u00a0called their quarterback situation “ugly,” noting that neither O’Connell nor Minshew look like starting-caliber quarterbacks.<\/p>\n

“It couldn’t be clearer that both Gardner Minshew II and Aidan O’Connell are top-notch backups at best for a team that must start from scratch under center,” Gagnon wrote.<\/p>\n

Vinnie Iyer of The Sporting News\u00a0suggested the Raiders could address the situation now, projecting they trade for\u00a0Pittsburgh Steelers\u00a0quarterback\u00a0Justin Fields. Iyer suggested it could be a move for the future, allowing Fields to pair with a rookie next season.<\/p>\n

“The Raiders have their eyes on\u00a0Shedeur Sanders\u00a0and other top QB prospects in the 2025 draft, but it would make sense to take a shot on Fields to pair with his former Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy,” Iyer wrote. “The Steelers may not want to break up their ideal backup\/starter situation with Russell Wilson and Fields, but they could be motivated to flip the latter if they get a great offer.”<\/p>\n
