No matter what, I\u2019m going to put in the work. But it\u2019s extra motivation for me to even keep putting in more work. Just like when I was a kid in Southern Colorado trying to make a D-1 team with all my guys out there [at Prairie View High School]. Nothing really changes. I\u2019m staying who I am. I\u2019m getting shots up in the gym. I try to take care of my body. I try to be the best overall team player that I can be,\u201d Knecht told\u00a0Sportskeeda\u2019s Mike Media.<\/p>\n<p>After one of the Lakers first games, Charles Barkley ripped the league\u2019s general managers for letting him slip so low.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst of all, these NBA General Managers don\u2019t have any idea what they\u2019re doing,\u201d Barkley said on TNT\u2019s Inside the NBA. \u201cLetting the Lakers get Dalton Knecht was one of the stupidest things I\u2019ve ever seen. That\u2019s a bad boy right there. Dalton Knecht, remember that name y\u2019all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The rookie has been impressive to start the season, averaging 7.7 points, 0.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists on 50 percent shooting from the field and 41.7 percent shooting from three in just 16.3 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just going to go out and hoop,\u201d Knecht said. \u201cI\u2019ll be who I am and do whatever the team needs me to do. I\u2019ll go out and compete. I\u2019ll always have a chip on my shoulder, whether they drafted me or not. If I\u2019m not their team, I\u2019ll have a chip no matter what.
