Kansas City Chiefs\u00a0wide receiver\u00a0DeAndre Hopkins\u00a0had a major update on his health on Thursday. The Tennessee Titans agreed to trade the star receiver to the Chiefs this week in exchange for a conditional fifth-round pick.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Chiefs were in desperate need of help at receiver this season because of health issues. WR Marquise Brown has been out since the preseason due to a shoulder injury he suffered against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He\u2019s not expected to play in the near future, but could return for the postseason.<\/span><\/p>\n

Second-year receiver Rashee Rice suffered a knee injury in Week 4. He\u2019s been ruled out for the season. On Monday, the Chiefs ruled out JuJu Smith-Schuster due to a hamstring issue. On Thursday, Kansas City announced they were putting third-year wide receiver Skyy Moore oninjured reserve\u00a0for a core muscle injury.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Kansas City has\u00a0serious depth issues<\/a>\u00a0at wide receiver heading into their Week 8 contest with the Las Vegas Raiders. It was important the Chiefs were able to get Hopkins up to speed as soon as possible so he could be available to play right away.<\/span><\/p>\n

Per ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter, Hopkins\u00a0passed his physical<\/a>\u00a0on Thursday, allowing him to office join the Chiefs\u2019 receiver corps.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Hopkins has been battling through an MCL injury this season. Per The Tennessean\u2019s Nick Suss, Titans head coach Brian Callahan said this week that Hopkins had to leave the Titans game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday due to \u201clower leg soreness\u201d near his calf and Achilles.<\/p>\n

Fortunately for the Chiefs, that injury does not appear to be a long-term issue that nixed the trade.<\/p>\n

The former first-round pick has 15 receptions for 173 yards and one touchdown this season. He has 943 receptions for 12,528 yards and 79 touchdowns in his career.<\/span><\/p>\n
