Amongst the other 31 NFL teams, the ownership focuses on bringing aboard the right general manager and coaching staff and then allowing them to perform the roles they are meant to do. However, in Dallas, things are different.<\/p>\n<p>Owner and general manager<strong>\u00a0Jerry Jones\u00a0<\/strong>has a say in everything, from the pattern on the seats in AT&amp;T Stadium to the choice of plays his head coach runs. The head coach was pleasantly surprised at his statement but went on to hold himself accountable.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\">\n<blockquote><p><em>I talk to Jerry all the time. We\u2019ve had time to go through the self-scout. I didn\u2019t see the comments specifically. But I don\u2019t think we have bad concepts and bad plays. But I\u2019ll go back and check<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><cite>Mike McCarthy said<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>If Jones has a say in the type of plays that the Cowboys should and should not run, then the reason behind the team\u2019s lack of success over the past 30 years is crystal clear.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-mike-mccarthy-understands-that-the-dallas-cowboys-need-to-improve\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mike McCarthy understands that the Dallas Cowboys need to improve<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The head coach further reassured the fans that he realizes the team is not where it should be at this point in the season and that they are doing everything to ensure the second half is more successful.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\">\n<blockquote><p><em>We\u2019re not where we want to be. That\u2019s clear, and that\u2019s ultimately my responsibility and I\u2019m fully aware of that. We\u2019re very diligent. We\u2019re on top of what we want to do<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><cite>Mike McCarthy added<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>His soft response was not surprising. The loss to the Detroit Pistons was the tipping point for him. On his most recent appearance on\u00a0<em>105.3 The Fan<\/em>, Jerry Jones expressed displeasure at Mike McCarthy\u2019s playcalling.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\">\n<blockquote><p><em>The types of things that we all think we should be looking at is we\u2019re designing bad plays, or we\u2019re designing bad concepts<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><cite>Jerry Jones stated<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>In many ways, this should be taken as a warning to McCarthy that if he is not able to get Dallas to the playoffs, he should find another job.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy when asked a question about Jerry Jones saying Dallas had bad plays and bad concepts:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI talk to Jerry all the time.
