RUBEN AMORIM was caught playfully SLAPPING Manchester United players in a bizarre training session ahead of his Old Trafford debut.<\/p>\n

But United fans were excited to finally see some joy return to Carrington \u2013 while many begged the new boss to go \u201ceasy on Luke Shaw\u201d after he made his long-awaited return from injury at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Ruben Amorim was spotted joking around with his players on Wednesday<\/em><\/p>\n

Fans have hailed the carnage as team bonding<\/em><\/p>\n

After a disappointing 1-1 draw at Ipswich, Amorim told Sky Sports on Sunday: \u201cI just want to spend time with my players.\u201d<\/p>\n

And the Portuguese tactician is clearly fitting into his new role at United, as Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire returned to training.<\/p>\n

Amorim and his coaching staff were waiting for his first team squad to arrive on the training pitches in the winter cold on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The players, who smiled as they entered the gates, then gathered to form a tunnel to create room for their team-mates to run through.<\/p>\n

The group could be seen laughing and joking before Amorim turned to push Kobbie Mainoo backwards.<\/p>\n

The former Sporting manager then lovingly launched at Martinez \u2013 who was darting away for cover.<\/p>\n

A beaming Shaw appeared to joke with his new boss before Amorim lovingly urged him off to join Martinez at the start of the line.<\/p>\n

It seems as though Amorim was getting his long-term injured players to run through the group as a sort-of initiation to welcome them back into the fold.<\/p>\n

Amorim pushes Luke Shaw<\/em><\/p>\n

As their teammates in line gave them playful slaps, Martinez, Shaw, Maguire, and several other players started to dash through the artificial tunnel.<\/p>\n

Shaw replaced Jonny Evans at left center-back on minute 59, playing his first United minutes since February against Ipswich.<\/p>\n

Maguire has been out since leaving Villa Park in a plastic boot while Erik ten Hag was still in command, and Martinez was knocked during Ruud van Nistelrooy\u2019s penultimate game as manager.<\/p>\n

However, ahead of United\u2019s Europa League match against Bodo\/Glimt on Thursday, supporters quickly saw how close the group has gotten.<\/p>\n

One wrote: \u201cNeeds to be careful with Luke Shaw, could put him out for the rest of the season with those shoves \ud83e\udd23.\u201d<\/p>\n

A second said: \u201cI\u2019m definitely feeling he\u2019s going to bond the squad stronger here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another added: \u201cAmorim\u2019s more connected with the players due to his younger age.\u201d<\/p>\n

While a fourth wrote: \u201cStop pushing Shaw, he\u2019s gonna get hurt!\ud83e\udd23\ud83e\udd23\u201d<\/p>\n

A fifth replied: \u201cThis club needs more chemistry, and he is trying to build it.\u201d<\/p>\n

One more wrote: \u201cIt\u2019s heartwarming to watch.\u201d<\/p>\n

United will welcome 12 per cent of an entire town\u2019s population on Thursday.<\/p>\n

For the crucial match, the visiting team, who lost twice to Arsenal in 2022, is expecting 6,500 spectators.<\/p>\n

Out of the 53,000 residents of the town, that means that one in eight of them will be at the game.<\/p>\n

Martinez might play, but Maguire isn\u2019t thought to be well enough to return to action right away following a lengthy break.<\/p>\n

Amorim said: \u201cLicha is ready. He didn\u2019t stop playing for too much time so I feel he is ready.<\/p>\n
