It is widely believed that the Chicago Bulls have been trying to trade Zach LaVine for a while now. Unfortunately, they have not gotten the right offer yet.
It is easy to understand why they might have faced a tough time finding trade partners. LaVine is coming off a season in which he played just 25 games due to injury. But even more importantly, he has a massive contract, that will see him make $138 million over the next three seasons.
There has been plenty of positivity around LaVine in recent days though, as he has looked good during the preseason.
The same cannot be said about the Los Angeles Lakers. They finished preseason 2-4, which included two one-sided defeats against the Golden State Warriors and one against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Lakers do not seem to have a roster that will compete for the Championship this season. Their Championship window with LeBron James is getting narrower by the day though.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. The Lakers have been linked with a trade for LaVine in recent times.
LaVine is one of the most dynamic scorers in the league and could be an asset for the Lakers. How much would they be willing to give up to bring him on board though?
Chandler Parsons believes that there are some Lakers players who might entice the Bulls. He said on Run It Back: “I think they need shooting. I think when you got a guy like wings like Dalton Knecht now, you got Austin Reaves, you got D’Lo, I think there’s assets that would entice the Chicago Bulls.”
Just getting LaVine’s massive contract off the books has to be a priority for the Bulls at this point, as they look to rebuild around young stars. If they can get any of those players from the Lakers, it would have to be seen as a bonus.
