The San Francisco 49ers are back to their winning ways. After getting crushed in a Super Bowl rematch in Week 7 by Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, the 49ers rebounded by dominating the Dallas Cowboys at home on Sunday.
Niners quarterback Brock Purdy was a steady presence under center in the Cowboys game, as he went 18-of-26 for 260 passing yards and a touchdown with zero turnovers. Making the night even better for Purdy and the 49ers was the heartwarming shoutout they got from the signal-caller’s mom, Carrie Purdy.
“What A Game! We Love You BP!❤️” posted Carrie on X along with an image of the rest of the Purdy Family.
“We are so Proud of You & All of The Niners! Congratulations!🎉🏈”
Brock outplayed his Cowboys counterpart Dak Prescott while also matching Dallas’ entire production on the ground with 56 rushing yards to go with a touchdown on eight carries.
The 49ers had a shaky start against Dallas, as they found themselves trailing the Cowboys by four points at the half. But San Francisco turned up the heat in the third period, where it erupted for 21 points while keeping the Cowboys scoreless. Dallas tried to pull off a comeback in the fourth quarter, which the 49ers successfully extinguished on their way to a victory – San Francisco’s fourth of the season.
The win over the Cowboys was a nice way for San Francisco to send itself into a bye in Week 9. Their next game will be on Nov. 10 against Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 10.
